9 Black History Movies Featuring Black MCU Actors
This topic came to mind after I watched an eye-opening movie about Black history. The movie centered around an actor I last saw in a Marvel movie. This made me think of other Black actors who have appeared in the Marvel cinematic universe (MCU) as well as other thought-provoking films.
The last Black culture film I wrote about was about police brutality in 2020. But there are a lot of great, older films on YouTube and other video hosting platforms for free. I'll share links when possible.
5 Awesome Things I Want From Lucifer Seasons 5 (Part 2) and 6
After writing an intermediate user's guide to Linux web server hosting, I figured I'd cover something in the DC and Marvel comics realm. I've gained quite a bit of interest into some of that stuff since the Black Panther movie released in 2018. R.I.P. Chadwick Boseman.
I learned about the Lucifer Netflix series, based off Vertigo (DC) Sandman comics, around the same time as the Supernatural TV show. Supernatural ended a few months ago, after 15 years, and Wayward Winchester educated me on the story. There are multiple great YouTubers covering Marvel...everything: movies, Disney + series, comics, theories, etc. I haven't found anyone doing that regularly with Lucifer Morningstar's show. I'm sure that is partially due to the fact that DC movies (e.g. Justice League) and shows (e.g. Arrow) aren't directly intertwined. Plus, Lucifer season 5 (part 1) was released in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, almost a year ago.

I found Johnny Appleseed Hard Apple Cider during a trip to visit some family folk a few weeks ago. It doesn’t taste like it’s 5.5% (.5% more than Redd’s Apple Cider), but it does taste like non-alcoholic apple cider. Sneaky. Smooth enough for the ladies, strong enough for everyone. Sipping!

I bought a Smith & Forge Hard Cider along with a Johnny Appleseed Hard Cider a few weeks ago. I may be missing something, but the only difference I found was Smith & Forge is 6% and Johnny Appleseed is 5.5%. They taste the same. The design is sweet, though. Looks like I’m drinking something hardcore.

Audition is a Japanese film about an old lonely man creating an audition for a non-existant movie to find a new beau. When he makes a decision, everyone is telling him in many ways that he’s thinking with the wrong head. Everyone felt a bad vibe about her. She says things that send a bad vibe, even as a viewer. He ignores it all. Then there’s more red flags and a horrible dream. . .meh.

I was all ears when my brother and I visited my favorite seafood restaurant/bar, Longboards, and our waitress recommended Sweet Baby Jesus as a response to me asking for a drink that was different. Sweet Baby Jesus by Duclaw in Maryland is officially described as a chocolate peanut butter porter with 6.5 ABV. I describe it as the beer I will get next time I visit Longboards. Sipping!
The Bedroom (1992)

“The Bedroom” is a lot of things. I’ll simply say it’s a Japanese film (with English subtitles) that follows a woman when she joins a fetish club where she takes a pill to sleep while others do as they wish. Imagine a weirder version of “Sleeping Beauty” (2011) starring Emily Browning.
Though it’s only a hour long, the confusing plot twists and constant vanilla sex scenes negate from the small story line presented.

“Secretary” takes you on an adventure into S&M through the eyes of Lee Holloway, played by Maggie Gyllenhaal. She graduates from a mental institution, gets a job as a secretary. Then things get a little kinky.

“Would You Rather” is a SAW movie without elaborate traps and well-thought out games. It’s brute force and simple mini-games that make you wonder which choice you’d select and why every time someone is asked “would you rather…?” Even better, every time something cliché begins. . . no spoilers.

She fights her imagination from the time she’s selected for the role. Oh, and Mila Kunis from “Friends with Benefits” does kinky stuff in this film too.

Family Matters

A while ago, I took a trip to Chicago for a friend’s wedding. Before I left Chi-Town, I made time to figure out where the house used for the sitcom Family Matters. I know, that’s not a big deal. To me, it was. I still get geeked about it when I think of the trip. I think about all the lessons I learned and laughs I had watching Steve Urkel and the Winslow family on UPN. Good times. I wish there were more shows like that.

Okay. After watching this, I am seriously taking a break from Japanese SAW movies. It’s just under two hours long, but I wanted this to end at approximately 30 minutes in. By the 30 minute mark, I understood enough of what was going on, what was going to happen, why, and the acting was bad enough that I didn’t care much to see what happened. But I continued to watch . . . for you. Yep.

What I Learned from the Red Pill Documentary

I really enjoyed the Red Pill documentary. It’s about a feminist interviewing men’s rights activists (MRA) expecting to enhance her understanding in her stance. By the end of the 2 hour documentary, she feels conflicted between what she wants to believe and what she’s heard during the many interviews. Below are my notes taken throughout the documentary.
